But not so hiatus-ish until I can’t put out random content. I finally got my computer fixed!

I got Photoshop and Flash reinstalled, and found that I could still knock out a drawing of Ace Pilot. However, all my preset brushes for inking and colouring are gone.

Anyway, check this space for the occasional update. I don’t intend to return to regular webcomicking any time soon, but I may put up stuff now and then. Thanks for being a reader!

If you haven’t already noticed, I’ll point out that this comic incorporates ‘traditional’ hand-drawn stuff with ‘Photoshop-tomfoolery’.

The hand-drawn stuff are essentially images that I sketch out on paper, scan into my PC and ink over using my Intuos3 tablet. The other, non-hand-drawn images are created in Photoshop using a mouse and lots of mind-boggling patience and a million ‘Undo’ clicks.

This tutorial will cover the second type of art, and another tutorial which I’ll publish in a few days will describe the traditional approach.

We will be looking at how I created the spaceport in this comic.

Needless to say, we start by loading Photoshop:

We are rapidly approaching the moon, and with it, Part III of Terence N. Tijuana.

The spaceport in the last panel was first seen in this previous comic, and I really had my work cut out for me trying to reproduce it larger and from a different angle, with more detail.

Trivia: I had Kate Miller-Heidke’s The Last Day on Earth playing in a loop throughout the creation of this particular comic. It really set the mood.

This is the second time my main character has died in a ‘Shorts’ comic, which should disqualify me from possible criticism that I’m one of those cartoonists who only kill off minor characters.

Man, I’m so excited!

Part II of Terence N. Tijuana ends in 2 weeks, and we’ll enter Part III, which you can probably guess will take place on the Moon!

Most of Part II plays out onboard the Terence N. Tijuana Spaceship, and while it was interesting to portray the interior of the ship, I’m really looking forward to a change in scenery to something less claustrophobic! I hope you guys are really anticipating this.

Part III is where we’ll learn the mission of the crew, and eventually, each individual’s motivations and aspirations. Plus, there’ll be hand combat scenes (as opposed to the brief robot-wars a few updates previously).

Part III also marks the point where I’m gonna start promoting the comic through ads etc in order to increase readership. If you like Terence N. Tijuana, feel free to campaign for me through word of mouth, which I think is the most valuable help I can get.

To tell you the truth, I’m the kind of guy who hates reading stuff that tells you how to do things. Books/articles like that irritate the hell out of me. Especially motivational books that guarantee a Whole New You in 10 days just read all 99 Chapters – WOW Effective Habits of Successful People – Get Rich The Smart Way!

No way. I like fiction and the occasional Photoshop tutorial, and car stuff, but please don’t tell me how to better myself.
